By simple self-definition, I consider myself Jewish; others must accept me as such. I am not religious, but the fact that I am an atheist does not prevent me from having objects of worship at home and keeping the tradition. Besides, I have always shown great sympathy for the religious, which infuriates my friends. If a religious person comes to me on the street and tells me that there are nine of them, and they need one more for the minyan, I’ll join them to be the tenth.
